2001: A Space Odyssey came out 9 years earlier and was far more
impressive visually, can you imagine what it was like to see that
movie at the age of 6 or 7 and then to see the first moon landings a
few months later?

I remember standing in the garden one night looking up at the full
moon and knowing that there were men walking around on it, I fully
expected to be able visit there myself when they got the space
stations I saw in 2001 built. Life can be such a disappointment :(
