MS has made an announcement that Xbox 306 will be backwards compatible - for "top selling titles".
Now who the hell knows what that means? ;^) My guess is that it means that emulation will exist but MS will only test it with a subsection of titles. However it could mean that for some strange reason backwards compatibility needs to truly be handled on a per title basis (anybody know of a reason that might be?) It might also mean that to support a title you'd have to download some sort of "driver" - but I'm only guessing. It just seems odd - a real emulator would mean that most titles should work, correct? Perhaps some titles that pull tricks may not - but most should. For them to say specifically (and evasively) "top-sellers" seems to me like they're hedging their bets for some reason.
