This discussion came up a while ago - but it's not at all suprising for "Star Wars". Kids are told to buy the toys, play the video games, get the Lego's and everything else - how can you tell them that the movie all this force is based on is "for grown ups"? Everything around is telling kids (and grownups) that this is a "kids" movie. The same thing happened with the first two "Batman" movies (and will probably happen with the new one). Now for "Hannibal" it IS surprising - I don't remember anything ever indicating that was a "kids" movie. ;^) But I've seen the same thing with other superficially ambiguous movies. For example when I say "Princess Mononoke" in the theater a woman brought two small children to the film. Both kids squealed at the Ghibli logo and said "Totoro!" She started get uptight when the demon boar attacked and then got up and left in a huff when Ashitaka beheaded the samurai soldiers. (As an aside my 6-year old son just walked in excitedly showing me his feet: "Look, mommy got me Darth Vader sneakers!")
