WARNING - Crap to follow: You're exactly right. Especially important is the distinction between efficient and effective. But different things work for different people and while It's very cliched here's the hooey I use on a daily basic: 1.) Set goals, review them often, and adjust - but *always* set goals. And to be 6sig about it, make them SMART (Specific, Manageable, Achievable, Results-oriented, Time-bound). 2.) Measure your progress. If you can't measure it you can't accomplish it, and if you're not making progress towards your goals, change them - now. 3.) Work your program. Don't get distracted by outsiders, but pay attention to methods that others are using. Think through your positions, make sure you hear from a "no man" to load test your program, and then move forward without hesitation or doubt; FUD kills achievement. Overall I've found there's generally 2 sets of things every adult has to deal with: 1.) Emotional baggage from growing up. Don't hide it, lie about it, or run from it, because you can't. Face it now and move on. At least that's what worked for me. 2.) How compatible are you with "the system"? I found that I was very incompatible with what the The System valued. For Example, there's easy ways for any reasonably clever person to become a millionaire by 30, but nobody will tell you about it - you have to study The System to understand what to do. Of course that assumes that money is important to you - maybe something else is and understanding The System will help you get what you want. But then who the hell really knows. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:159135 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
