I would like any comments on this currently-existing web site:
http://www.evansville.edu/

I'm not so much interested in the home page, but more so in the
second-level pages such as:
http://www-dev.evansville.edu/alumni/
http://www-dev.evansville.edu/prospects/

The alumni section follows the layout structure of the majority of the
site. This includes having drop-down menus in the purple area at the
top.

The prospect section, however, adds its own drow-down navigation and
eschews the purple drop-down navigation, although, the primary purple
links still exist.

Personally, I think this site is too busy and I get totally lost in the
navigation with menus popping up here, there and everywhere. It is as
though the content owners wanted single-click access to every single
page on the site.

Counting the "Quick Links" and the breadcrumb area, there are four
distinct lines of links before *any* content appears.

To me, this is "link overload" and I, in fact, have a good grasp on the
site structure. I can't imagine what first-time, or infrequent, users
think of the site.

By using this web site, you can get a good feel for the university's
departmental organization as well as our business practices. In fact,
this web site almost documents our business. I don't like this because
we are forcing our users to "learn" our way of business rather than
provide them with information specifically for their needs.

Feel free to pony up any opinions, good or bad, because I didn't build
this site, but I am responsible for maintaining it and suggesting future
direction on this site.

Please ignore the fact that this site was built with ASP. Nobody's
perfect. ;^)

Thanks
M!ke
