Of course it's also very possible that Mac OS is as stable as it is specifically because such close reign has been maintained on the hardware side. While Apple might make some money as a more general OS provider to x86 platforms they could very well lose any profits in increased support and QA costs trying to deal with crappy RAM, overclockers and "nearly standard" hardware. Still, I would love the opportunity to run Mac OS on a virtual PC...
