the stuff going into the mouth goes through the filter. The stuff
coming out of the mouth is filtered by the filter and by the smoker's
lungs. However, if you watch a person smoking, you'll see that a bunch
of smoke comes off the tip of the cigarette while it's being held in
the hand. I hadn't really thought about it until I was QAing the data
for this database, but yeah, it's true, not all smoke goes through the
filter. It only comes into play when the smoker takes a drag. And by
the way I smoked the entire time I worked on that project, just to
show that I am an idiot too at times...
