Actually Republicans prove the governmental evolutionary process. 
While we still call them "Republicans", it's a historical title rather
than a definitive one.

You see, the ancestors of today's "Republicans" were the conservatives
you speak of.  However nature (weak minds) conspired with nurture
(lobbyists) to create fiscal liberals; in essence the exact same
process that happened to the Democrats under President Johnson.

An odd byproduct of this evolution, possibly caused by junk DNA, is
the tendency to paranoid delusions such as WMD in Iraq.  This same
defect causes obsessive religious disorder which manifests itself as
abuses of power.  For example, trampling on state's rights due to Gay
marriage or family rights.
