Yes, as long as you ignore the massive debt the economy isn't doing too bad. Add in the debt and liabilities and we're in a world of hurt. You'll change your mind in a few years when that debt hits you or if start looking at more than anecdotal evidence. I also think we're going to get hit in a bad way from a lot of converging trends: 1.) Globalization: "The economic playing field is being leveled and you Americans aren't ready." - Narayana Murthy, CEO, Infosys 2.) Foreign wars: Iraq will take its toll in lives, cost, confidence, and prestige. 3.) Debt. Mr. Bush's spending including the tax "cuts", Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will conspire to shake the foundations of the tax payer. 4.) Dollar's Strength. The high debt load is held by foreign interests who now have the power to destabilize the American economy. 5.) Energy. America's reliance on foreign oil leaves us vulnerable to attack and raises our cost of living. 6.) American Prestige. Mr. Bush's foreign policy has caused many in the world to question America's answers to humanity's problems. 7.) "Flight of the creative class". As America's balance sheet moves south, it's immigration policies become thorny, and it's domestic policies become exclusive (Gay Marriage), creative professionals will move elsewhere. That is, America will no longer be the place to be for starting a business. We're already seeing this with Mr. Bush's 2 wins which are essentially a backlash against this creative class by "common" people. You hear words like the the "liberal elites" which really means the creative class. They failed to create an inclusive atmosphere that asks everyone for their creative ideas which sparked a backlash that has culminated with Mr. Bush's election victories. I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but we're trending down. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:162120 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
