A dog doesn't want to poop where it lives, that is the point of potty training with the crate, it is small enough where they don't have space to use the bathroom on one side and sleep on the other.
The idea is that they learn to hold it, and alert you when they need to go out. We lock the dog in the crate at night and when we are gone, however during the day, we leave it open so he can come and go as he wants. Eventually you can get them off the crate, as they learn that the house is their Den, and not to poop in one part of it. Now that the dog goes to the back door and barks and whines when he needs to go to the bathroom I think he is about ready to sleep outside the create. > -----Original Message----- > From: Paul Ihrig [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, July 06, 2005 1:56 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Re: Dog Training Crates > > we are thinking about getting a pup. > so once you crate train them do they always sleep in it? > or after a while is it ok to let them sleep where they want? > > you always keep the door open? > do they poop in there? > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:163185 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
