You're likely right...

I myself had a painful childhood (with the notable exception of
summer-camp), so anything that reminds me of being a child is painful
for me... Of course, because going through that once wasn't enough, I
got married to a neurotic woman who refused to believe that anything
belonging to the world of "older than 13" is absolute garbage and not
worthy of any time or attention. Hence my bitterness...
