"publicly disagreeing with your gov't" != "speaking out against soldiers"
Sorry but to say disagreeing with your gov't = speaking against soldiers is a crock of shit. I am in favor of the military and our soldiers. They do what many won't. They volunteer their time and lives to protect our nation and our way of life. However, When they volunteer they give up their free will and submit to doing whatever their government asks of them. There is a tacit agreement between our military men and women and our President and other political leaders. Our military sign up and lose their options. They do what they are told when they are told. In return there is an expectation that their lives will not unnecessarily be put in harms way. That our government will use them to protect our nation and our friends. In the case of Iraq where there was an abuse of that power to send our military men and women in harms way it is the responsibility of American Citizens to stand up and make noise. To let the Political leaders know this is not an action that US citizens support. And that we should not be risking American lives for such a cause. There is a huge difference between supporting our troops (in part by making noise to bring them home). And speaking out against our soldiers. Our military men and women are doing what they are told. I and most everyone I know thanks them for this. However, more and more American citizens believe that the war was wrong and that the administration needs to work on a plan to bring our brave soldiers home. During Vietnam many of the public spoke out against the war by attacking the military and our soldiers that was then. Today our soldiers are supported, even by those of us who disagree with the war. So speaking out against the war is not speaking out against our soldiers it is supporting them. If I were still in the Marines, I would have to go fight this war that I disagree with. I would sure hope there was someone at home making a public statement to end the war and bring us home. Support our soldiers: Bring them home!
