it's major surgery, which is always potentially life-threatening. And some doctors push it to keep their own schedule on track. I don't EVEN want to start on what I think of that since people are already accusing me of being anti-doctor :) I'll just say thank my own providers (Holy Cross Hospital and Anne Arundel Medica Center in Annapolis) did an outstanding job of assisting natural childbirths, as untidy and off-schedule as they may have been. Well, ok, we did go to the pitocin both times as I kept going into labor and stopping and after a couple of weeks of that I was saying hey now... but no, no epidural, no episotomy thank you very much.
