Pfft..is this for real? Has anyone noticed the variety of topics and debates that are held on these lists? How can anyone bring up 'Libel' or 'Slander' and talk about going to lawyers? That's just utterly ridiculous.
If that's where the list has reached then tag me Unsubscribed, or certainly a Non Participant! Some of the so called 'victims' of this libel or slander have a long history of using personal insults and snide remarks in their online communications. Yet I've not seen anyone seriously talk of libel or lawyers where these 'victims' were concerned. Some of these victims weren't here 4 or 5 years ago, I was. And I have those archives, as do a few of the old timers that are left here, and the conversations were vibrant, and certainly varied..but quite quite different from the tone of the list now. I looked them over last night when I was putting back old Outlook .pst archives and they still bring a smile to my face. The tone of the list has gone from happy and cheerful, to Dark, angry, belligerent mostly with a few happy moments thrown in. Quite quite different to what it used to be. This list was a place where you could discuss matters openly, but the debate was always interspersed with a lot of fun and banter. Is this where that happy, often go lucky list has reached? Everyone gets upset, sometimes online discussions get out of hand sure, but threatening lawyers and libel? That's just ridiculous. If one does not want 'business people' to know one's point of view, then use a pseudonym,or don't participate in online mailing lists that are open to the public and that are archived by google for goodness sake!
