When the water starts to really heat up this time of year, bass go deeper
and become less active, especially during the day. At night, when the water
settles down, is the primary feeding time for larger bass.

Morning and evening are your best bet for catching more fish, but smaller
fish, casting with spinner baits and the like. To get the bigger ones
though, generally you've gotta go deeper, and later, during the peak summer
months.
