Has nothing to do with self preservation. As a Jew I'm not allowed into most Islamic countries. Doesn't matter how many generations of Jews lived in the country. Doesn't matter how much we contributed to society. Once Israel was created (and before for that matter), Jews were forced out of their homes and banned from return. Those that were left alive, that is.
