Talk about spin! This unnamed senior Bush administration official's apparent statement contradicts Bob Novak's statement that he asked Rove about Wilson's wife, not the other way around. It also contradicts the statement made by Matt Cooper that he called Rove, not the other way around, and that the subject of Wilson's wife only came up in passing at the end of conversation on a different subject.
Cooper also talked to Scooter Libby, Cheney's assistant. According to Cooper's statement, he asked Libby about Cooper and Coopers said something like, "Yeah, I've heard that, too." Cooper took that for confirmation of the story about Plame. It isn't clear to me about who called who in that exchange. I've read and heard a lot of spin and half-truths about this story in the last couple of weeks. Wait until the prosecutor is finished with his job, then maybe we'll see the truth come out. >A senior Bush administration official told The Washington Post that, shortly >after the publication of Wilson's piece in the New York Times -- which >undercut the administration's case for launching a pre-emptive war against >Iraq -- two top White House officials had called six journalists to disclose >the identity and the position of Valerie Plame, Wilson's wife. > >That same senior administration official said: "Clearly it (the leak >'outing' Plame) was meant purely and simply for revenge." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Purchase Contribute 3 from House of Fusion, a Macromedia Authorized Affiliate and support the CF community. http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=53 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:165248 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
