I originally started because my ex wife had quit smoking and we both needed to
get in shape, I had gone to a couple of other schools in different styles and
wasn't impressed with the instructors (arrogant, militaristic, "my school is
better than everyone else's and you suck if go anywhere else")

The instructors that we met at my original school were very personable, and at
least one was (is) very , very knowledgeable.

Now a little background....

I left this school about eight months ago, when my master was let go (lots of
infighting, and egos got to big) my master and his step daughter are opening
their own school next month.

I don't subscribe to the one style is better than the other philosophy, because
the well rounded fighter will combine styles to fit the situation. I've started
in Taekwondo, I test for black belt next month, and will probably start taking
either Hapkido or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in addition to TKD.

Have you tried any other martial arts besides Taekwondo? That is, why
Taekwondo? Was it just something you started or did/do you choose it
for specific reasons?

thx
