So, I went to my doc a bunch of years ago because I was depressed. The
first thing she asked me (after - "do you need a tissue?") was "are you
exercising? I wanted her to prescribe me something so badly and said
yes, when in fact, regular exercise had kind of fallen off my radar (I
figured, I usually exercise, but just not lately, so...). I filled the
prescription, and was on the pills for almost 2 years. Finally, feeling
pretty strong and happy, I decided to take myself off and see what
happened. I happened to be exercising regularly at that time, and was
just fine after my body adjusted. Since then, I really notice a *big*
difference when I stop exercising. After 2 weeks max of non-exercise, I
feel myself falling right back into my depression. I now consider
exercise my medicine. I absolutely have to do it and can't afford to
make excuses about it!

So, to make a long story short, regular exercise, while difficult to get
into sometimes, is my best advice if you're feeling blue.
