I'm hoping to give the Power onTap presentation ... haven't heard
anything from Michael yet about it... though I did notice he mentioned
onTap specifically in the announcement of the call for papers. :) So I
guess that means he considers it popular enough to name (if not
necessarily to fill a slot).

I was with you right up to "having nice toys"... My only reasons for
wanting to get ahead financially are to finalize my divorce and
hopefully to eventually join a commune ( http://www.zendik.org as an
example ). And it's a mutual goal for Tiff and myself... toys don't
enter into it.

Yeah, that's a large part of my predicament... although in all
honesty, when I have a permanent job, even if I don't care much for
the job (environment, etc.) I'm reluctant to consider taking a
different job... I've always heard that the "passive job seeker" is a
hot commodity (someone who has a current job but continues to scan the
classifieds) and I've always thought that was pretty
counter-intuitive... but even when I don't like my current job, the
job add that prompts me to send a resume is a real rarety. It's not
entirely for self-serving reasons (like not wanting to deal with
physically moving again, etc.) but also out of a sense of loyalty
which may or may not be misplaced. My impression is that a lot of
employers have little-to-no loyalty toward their employees -- as
evidenced by the high number of instances in which a current employer
will counter an offer from another company just so they can keep them
on staff while looking for a replacement so they can screw the
employee for daring to consider leaving. You know, the double
standard: absolute loyalty is expected from you -- absolute lack of
loyalty is given in return. I know not every environment is like that
-- I know sitemanageware isn't and neither was CIN, so I'm not
entirely jaded.
