The point is that the obvious conclusion may be right, but it isn't
the only one that can also be logically valid and factually correct.
But the quote panders to the simple minded who ONLY draw the obvious
conclusion.

What's funny is that Sam made the accusation that I was interpreting
it as black and white while I was actually accepting the obvious
conclusion but also pointing out the other possibilities that it
didn't preclude. I was making a matrix of valid possibilities within
the context, not declaring one correct.

Mostly it was an entertaining little personal foray back into sentential logic.
