There are some who believe it would be worth it even without all the
medicines in the world. Re: the Amish. I have a lot of sympathy for
the idea, although if I were to go that route, it wouldn't be in
response to violent crime. In my case it would be mostly in esponse to
mad consumerism and the mainstream's flagrant disregard for both the
environment and social health. Although now that I have children who
live with their mother in TX I'm not at all likely to explore that
extreme. I would still like to find a place where I feel I can live
closer to my values and I hope if I'm able to find it that it partly
includes growing our own food.
