What you're talking about are "drag" pipes, they have no mufflers or baffles in 
them it's just straight off of the head. In some states they're illegal.

These aren't the stock Harley exhaust.

Factoid: Harley Davidson has a patent on their stock exhaust note!!

Yeah, but instead of going WoooWOOOOOT!  They sound like you stuck
your head inside of the exhaust of an 18 wheeler.

In my mind they're just plain noise pollution and should be banned. 
Now, I'm all for loud pipes that are 'reasonably' loud (say 90-100db),
but something that can be heard over a pair of 68,000 lb thrust pratts
is too loud.
