There's a family crisis issue in this country - I saw it on TV. Dads, apparently, aren't sticking around or some such. Anyway here's a few movies with good, strong dads:
"The Great Santini" may not have been the best dad ever, but he was definitely strong. My dad never pummeled me in the head with a basketball... but then again I never called him "sir". "Finding Nemo" may feel a little clichéd now, but it's still a powerful story of why little fish shouldn't touch boats unless they want everything in their lives to suddenly become much better. "Parenthood" is often overlooked in Steve Martin's huge catalog, but it's a gem. We not only see Steve playing a pretty damn fine dad but also several other fathers of varying styles, mostly good but none similar. "Life With Father" is a comic masterpiece. I wish my wife cared enough to manipulate me that deftly. And, as always, the one film you can't miss: "Life is Beautiful" is such a wonderful film. A father lies to his son for months on end and we love him dearly for it.
