It's no so much the form factor but the chemistry - do you know what kind of
battery it is?  Ni-Cad, Lithium-Ion, Nickle-Metal-Hydride, etc?

Some need several charging cycles to reach their full potential, some work
best at certain temperatures, etc.

You might also check what the laptop itself is running compared to last time
you used it.  Using the optical drive, Wi-Fi, USB devices, etc will all
drain battery life much faster than not.
