Well... I didn't think "paranoid" at all. I just thought "whaaaa?" A former secretary in the executive branch is promising to write a proposal to promote something sometime in the next two months? And this is worrisome how? Let's also remember: 1) These chips are equivalent to "medic-alert bracelets". The chip is passive and stores only a GUID which can be used (only by somebody with access to them) to link a person to their medical records. I carry something around like that now: it's called my social security card nobody's ever gotten a twist in their shorts over that. My card is actually a little better than the chip at this point anyway since only two hospitals are currently equipped to actually read the chips (although one of those hospitals is near me... so my odds might be better than Thompson's who lives several nearly a 1,000 miles from either). However, more importantly: 2) Thompson (the former secretary) sits on the board of directors of the company which produces the chips. Jeeze, I wonder why he might want to "promote" them? This isn't any sort of "conspiracy" - it's marketing 101.
