You know - the kind of movie that draws your pathetic childhood out in stark
contrast. The kind of movie that makes you wish your parents would leave
you alone seemingly for days on end so that you could delve deep into the
ancient mysteries of your neighborhood.

"Stand By Me" constantly reminds me that never in my life have I had friends
that would walk through the night with me to poke a dead body with a stick.

"My Neighbor Totoro" is a woefully under-appreciated film in the United
States. I often linger at bus stops in the rain due to this film...

"The Sandlot" was one of those films that made even a fat little bastard
like me wish I had enough friends to play a little ball with.

"The Witches" features children that not only slip away for adventures but
also get transformed into vermin! Now what's not to like about that?

And the quintessential film of this genre:

"The Goonies" redefined childcare, introduced to the concept of "the little
girls cave" and finally made us all appreciate deformed, retarded giants for
the heroes they are. Come on, everybody: do the Truffle Shuffle!
