Not with javascript .. not that I am aware of.  Now an activex control is a
different story.

It's the same thing as opening a browser on your computer and typing c:\ in
the address bar.  If you doubleclick an executable in there, it will run
just as if you were doing it through windows explorer.  or .. open "my
computer" and type a web site address in the navigation bar ... windows and
browsers are pretty much interchangable.
