Criticizing the UN as if it's some type of self sustaining body is
spurious. We ARE the UN. We've got an ambassador, we sit on the
security council, we send them money occasionally, etc. If the UN
isn't an effective body then it's our fault - we are part of the UN.

It'd be like returning from a vacation with your wife having agreed to
all of it and then, once home, telling your wife how stupid and
ineffective her vacation plans were.

Secondly, there's not a lot anyone can do to a rich country with an
authoritarian gov't. Especially when the US is totally maxed out
militarily. Iran knows that nobody can really invade them right now
or really do anything ... save one country: Israel.

Now should the Iranians piss off Israel somehow, they'd be in for it,
but that would trigger a whole regional war which Iran also knows.

So unfortunately, due to poor US foreign policy, Iran and North Korea
hold trump cards and the US can't play.
