I totally agree. Quicktime is a total fucking annoyance if you don't
purchase the damn "Pro" version. However, I use iTunes and it requires
QT. >:-(

But then, it could be worse. Try Real player. ;-)

While I'm joining your rant, I want to add that Adobe's Acro Reader bugs
the living shit out of me. I hate the annoying pink button in the
top-right corner. You know the marketing manager at Adobe said "What
would be the worst possible color that would clash with most web sites?
We must grab everyone's attention" The kiss-asses said, "Pink!"

I also hate how Acro Reader decides to update itself in the background
while you are waiting for the PDF to appear in the browser. Then, you
are sitting wondering why your CFDOCUMENT tag didn't work. Only when
you close all windows, you notice that Reader is waiting for you to
approve an update. I've seen too many of these issues noted by CF
developers.

I can't wait until Acro Reader and Flash Player are integrated and then
Adobe will make us sit through a "commercial" before the Flash content
actually starts playing.

Don't even get me started on the TV bugs and in-program commercials. I
don't need to know what the fuck comes on after King of the Hill. I
have a damn on-screen guide. Who the hell doesn't these days?

So, they then show the damn commericals while you are watching the
program. The "bugs" used to be just a fraction of the screen. Now, I
have seen bugs that are about 25% of the screen and some that are
half-way, vertically, on the screen. I'm sure the television program's
producers and directors really intended for their "art" to be covered by
advertising for next week's movie.

God! I hate those marketing bastards!

Subject: Damn Quicktime! Damn it all to Hell!

I just really hate QuickTime.

I hit a site, it says "you need QuickTime"... I accidentally hit "Okay"
to the request. It downloads something then hits Apple's site to
download Quicktime.

I say "no".

You'd think that would be that, uh? No.

The stub it downloaded first, although it can't do a damn thing,
installs itself into my "Run" key, DOESN'T give me an uninstall option
(not in the application itself, not in the add/remove programs, not in
the start menu) and displays a useless QuickTime logo in my tray.

>From this logo I can see 10 greyed out options (since I don't actually
QuickTime installed) and the option to go to Apple's website. To
provide me with this invaluable service this little piece of shit needs
upwards of two meg of RAM constantly.

In the end I had to edit the registry to get rid of it.

This is just nasty.

When Gator and Hotbar do the same thing it's "Spyware" and "Malware" and
so forth... but Apple does it and it's what? "Good UI"?

Just venting.
