Many of the settlers were razing their own homes as they moved out of them anyway... and I agree that it makes sense to leave the Palestinians nothing... I'd lay down a layer of salt as well...
Personally, I don't think this pull out will do anything to stop the violence between Israel and Palestine. You can't stop a hatred that's been forming over the last 3000 years or so by moving a few thousand people out of their homes.
