Yes, not quite 100% or at least in all areas, I paid $1.699/gallon exactly one year ago and paid $2.399 today, both for diesel and yes unleaded is a bit more. Certain middle eastern countries could do a lot more hurt to our economy than just high pump prices. Heck they could do it without even really effecting the supply simply by changing the monetary units they use from US dollars to euros. I did a paper on this a year or so ago, too damn lazy to go searching for links and references or much of anything right now. Personally I think reasons of this nature were more of the underlying reasons for this "conflict" than anything else. However it is not my job to decide on such matters and without full access to everything it will have to always be speculation as to the true reasons. I think people should focus on more important things like why is Walmart China's number one customer ... OR ... why can I not retire this year and live the high life ... OR ... nevermind :)
