You can't let the emotional issue of child pornography cloud the legal issue of Fourth Amendment privacy rights. I agree with EFF. When you turn your computer in for servicing, you are not inviting the technician to snoop around on your computer. You are asking them to fix a problem and that's it. To me, that means you have not surrendered your expectation of privacy. But I would read this in a very narrow way so as not to set an overly broad precendent.
Besides, this guy may get out of jail, but now the cops know who he is. If he's stupid enough to troll for kiddie porn in the future, he's history. >It's a tough call. Because it's kiddie porn you want to say turn the >bastard in. There are two problems with that however. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Find out how CFTicket can increase your company's customer support efficiency by 100% http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=49 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:169735 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
