The Apple remote wall-wart/plug/thingy is controlled from a stationary 
computer running iTunes anywhere on the network, but I think the main point 
of the media gateways is just to provide an interface to your files located 
elsewhere, all thin-client like. So you plug 'em into your TV, monitor, or 
stereo and it gives you access to your media files. 

I looked long and hard for a all-in-one unit and the only two products that 
came remotely close are the AVEL and the Buffalo HD players. I ended up 
grabbing a two year old $400 Dell Dimension from my Mom when the hard-drive 
failed a month after the mobo went down. And it plays everything ;-)
