It all depends on what you want out of a car. The euro car owners I've
known have all always said that you need to be very, very diligent
about maintenance. They are well engineered to perform IF you take
care of them. I think a lot of purchasers don't take that into account
which explains the satisfaction and reliability ratings.

I've known people who've owned classic Jaguars. They were in the shop
for "care" every month. But the owners loved them anyway. Compare that
now to the Ford Jaguars. They're much more reliable but they have zero
cachet. Hell, I just saw a new Jaguar that's nothing more than a
rebadged Ford Taurus wagon.
