I have read all of the books, and saw the film last week. I have to say, and
I may be in a minority here but hell, that I don't really rate the books at
all. I found them badly written and unimaginative. The film was a good
representation of the book I thought, but only served to highlight the
weaknesses of the story.

I read Philip Pullman's Dark Materials Trilogy at the same time, and I think
I was perhaps spoilt by that. Anyone else read theses books?

will

My cable modem is back up and on-line, so I figure I should be doing
something on-line instead of going to bed.

Of course email can be written off-line, so...

I think I read the first 100+ pages of the third Harry Potter book
today. Is anyone else hooked? Having read most of the first book the day
before seeing the movie, I noticed a lot of inconsistencies that others may
not of, but otherwise I thought the movie was very representative of the
book.

  [random spoiler talk here]

I suppose I don't have to expect kids books to be written to the
standards that an adult might notice, but... the first two books seemed
like they chronicled Harry's first (and second) year at the school, with a
villain and battle thrown in at the end of the book. There was not a lot
of setup nor any foreshadowing or lead-in as to who the villain was; so
there was no way ya could have guessed. The first one left you hanging as
to most of Harry's back history w/ he who must not be named.

The second one didn't seem to explain why things happened. How did
Malfoy get Voldemont's old diary, how / why did Voldemont store his
"memory" in the book?

  Okay, I'm going to bed.
