Everything about the scenarios you described is entertaining...and they add 
up to the total entertainment value of "sports". Watching the sport with 
friends, rooting on a team, enjoying the skill of hte players, on and 
on....all part of the entertainment.

95% of what I watch on TV is sports. The other 5% are Simpsons reruns :)
