I don't bruise easily.  If I'm bruised so it looks bad, it's probably 
bruised right to the bone.  Last time I had something turn black, I had 
muscle mass die off from the damage.  When I say "severe" bruise, I'm 
talking about bone bruises, etc.  Not just getting banged up.

So, AFAIK, it has nothing to do with diabetes.  Just has to do with me. 
  It's probably related to the fact that I'm not really a bleeder.  If I 
get cut, it stops bleeding very quickly.  On the other hand, it takes 
forever to completely scar up.  The latter seems to be common among 
people with chronically dry skin (anecdotally, at least) but the former 
is just me.  :-)

As far as cracking bones -- that *hurts*.  I've cracked a rib, two bones 
in my right forefinger, and (I suspect) a toe.  It hurt like hell every 
time.  Of course, I'm not exactly known for my stoic pain threshhold. 
I'm kinda a wuss.  :-)
