I have a personal objection actually to this course of action... Personally, I think its kind of psychotic, just like the immediate removal of any reference to the World Trade Center and/or terrorism from tons of movies and broadcast media following its destruction... It reminds me of my niece... You know the most disturbing thing about my niece is that there are no longer any pictures of her, or written/printed documents which mention her name, etc... My brother-in-law allowed her to drown in the bathtub. My sister is still with him. And their answer to the whole situation was to make the world as though she never existed. Same thing re: removing New Orleans or the WTC from broadcast media. People need to not be sheltered from the reminder that bad things happen. That reminder is what causes us to examine the situation, deal with it and potentially prevent it in the future. But we seem hell bent creating memory holes instead... I wonder how long/far that will go... I wonder if as the years pass tragedies will be met with more and more forced amnesia. "Please give to the survivors of... well, nothing, because nothing bad ever happens, we promise! And so there are no survivors because there's nothing that had to be survived, but just please donate to help ... keep everyone vaguely happy." Freaking Prosac culture...
