Much thanks for the all the thoughts on this. I went back to Photoshop and redid the swoosh so it actually ended (as opposed to drifting off the page).
From there, I simplified the table structure and everything appears to be working great. Old way: <http://www.dot-com-it.com/designtest/horizontal_old.cfm> <http://www.dot-com-it.com/designtest/vertical_old.cfm> New way: <http://www.dot-com-it.com/designtest/horizontal.cfm> <http://www.dot-com-it.com/designtest/vertical.cfm> The new swoosh thing is about the extent of my graphical abilities, but I prefer it to the original one.
