Gruss, Keynes has been around for almost a hundred years now. I can't argue
economics with someone who isn't familiar with the prevalent model. That's
the root of the problem here as I see it -- I am talking economics and you
are talking Plucky Boy Pulls Self Up By Bootstraps. Without putting down
people who do that -- my father was one of them after all -- it is not a
solution to the economic problem, the allocation of scarce resources.
I asked about a specific ballot measure but you haven't read anything about
it or any of the other links I posted. In the circumstances I'll look
elsewhere for opinions, thanks. I don't find the equation of any minimum
wage at all with communism to be a useful comment.
What problem is it trying to solve? We're a poor state, though not as poor
as the statistics suggest -- they are skewed by large numbers of
non-participants in the cash economy. But still. Should we spend our money
on other members of the community, or on out-of-state entities that don't
pay taxes here? Seems like a no-brainer to me.
