Another idea... We should make a list for mythbusters :)

I'm not sure which idea you are referring to, but Mythbusters did microwave 
CDroms in one episode.  It was concerning whether a damaged disk could explode 
with deadly force from the speed modern drives spin at.  They determined that 
if you where somehow exposed to a naked spinning disk that yes it will explode 
at high RPMs, and send razor sharp shrapnel in all directions.  But the cases 
of the drives are capable of containing the potential projectiles.
