Another idea... We should make a list for mythbusters :) I'm not sure which idea you are referring to, but Mythbusters did microwave CDroms in one episode. It was concerning whether a damaged disk could explode with deadly force from the speed modern drives spin at. They determined that if you where somehow exposed to a naked spinning disk that yes it will explode at high RPMs, and send razor sharp shrapnel in all directions.
