Are we debating being a good Catholic, being a good Christian or doing what God wants? Potentially these are different things. As far as Catholic is concerned, the logic is very simple. Abortion is murder and the child would not have been conceived if God did not want it so. I can conceive of being a good Christian who believes otherwise; however the Church says this is a contradiction. It's sort of like wanting to be a programmer -- you have to share a vocabulary and there are some conventions and some syntax errors.
