Although I didn't read it all... I know one thing... kids need someone to take care of them.
Who better than someone who has interest in actually "caring" for them then a system of people who's job it is to take care of them. (It's not quite the same, obviously) I personally applaud those who take care of others. I've actually thought about it (adopting a child) myself.
