Well, I can take a stab at it - I haven't seen it in a while, so I might be slightly off.
Basically, Tyler is anti-consumerism, and I think the whole point of blowing up the buildings was permanently destroy credit card company's, financial company's, etc, consumer records. Kind of like a planned anarchy. Get rid of the records, no one owes anyone anything, etc. I know this is a loose interpretation, but maybe someone else can sum it up - I've forgotten more about that movie that I thought.
