Cheney isn't going to run in 2008. Maybe he just wants to retire. As for it 
being a brilliant move, I hardly think VP is the ideal place for someone like 
Rice to go. She is the Secretary of State in one of the most active foriegn 
policy periods in our history. Why would she give that up to do a job that 
basically involves not dying so you can be on the bench in case the President 
goes down? What prestige is there in that? As Al Gore discovered, being VP 
doesn't give you an automatic in to the presidency.
