I also don't have a degree and I work for one of the better educational institutions in the states.
We also just hired another web developer who doesn't have a degree. In fact, he won out over a guy that did have a degree. But, we both have many years experience and, in our area, that is what matters the most. However, I get pressured, every now and then, to get my degree. Since I get free tuition, I may go when my life settles down a bit and have the time to devote to studying it. I do know that my options for moving up are a bit limited without the degree. It seems that to be a the president of the university you *must* have a degree. Talk about sticklers...
