When I was growing up I did plenty of social activities that had nothing
to do w/ school:

A) PAL Soccer ( I forget what PAL stands for... something athletic league )
B) Junior Achievement <http://www.ja.org/>
C) Community Orchestra (during the school year )
D) Summer Band (During the summer )
E) Cub Scouts / Boy Scouts

I seem to remember there was a lot more stuff (than I put on my college
transcripts). There are plenty of non-school-related social
activities. Whether home-schooling parents get their children involved in
such things is probably open to discussion; but the opportunities are there.
