This is one of the reasons I really like MSN Radio - you put in a band as a "fan channel" and all you hear from then on is music from people that were liked by people that liked that band. (That's not too tortured of a sentence, is it?)
It's not always on the money, but I've found some really good music this way. (The "Pink Floyd" fan favorites station initially brought up "The Allman Brothers", "Steve Miller", "Styx", "Edgar Winter" and others... not sure how alike they really are, but there you go.)
