Most of what the link contained was absolutely true. The only thing I
would take exception to is the comment about aging only 5 years.
Shiraz (and Syrah) wine like any wine can be built for ageing; case in
point, the higher-end Penfolds lines from Australia. Bin 28, RWT, St.
Henri and Grange (their top-of-the-line Shiraz) are all built to lay
down, Grange has been made since the 50s and they are still pulling
1st and 2nd vintage bottles to show the effects of quality production.

I myself have a bottle of Grange 1997 that I plan to put a minimum of
20 years on (depending upon when/if my daughter chooses to marry).

I also am laying down a vertical of Bin 28 that goes back to 1998. I
am hoping the 2002 vintage of bin 28 (when it is released) will be
every bit as good as its preceding brethren, and I have no doubt that
it will, past being prologue and all...

Also, I think that the French "Shiraz" that Gruss is referring to is
more a marketing gimick than anything else, though I could be wrong
about that...
